Sammi Jackson: DIY BLEACHED STUDDED SHORTS

I'm not really a big fan of what Rihanna normally wears but i do love this denim look and especially these shorts!!

I used an old pair of jeans that i turned into shorts shorts, but i still didn't wear them so i went about reinventing them again and making my own pair of studded shorts for free! :)

Bleaching

As you can see, my jeans were quite a dark colour so went about bleaching them! :)

I'm not sure what was wrong with this denim, but it WOULD NOT BLEACH!

I used a mixture of thick bleach and water, i left them to soak for over 6 hours and they didn't change colour at all...

I had to get more bleach and I found Tesco's own brand thin bleach, £0.29 for a 2 litler bottle so got that!

I used the bleach neat and left it on my shorts and it finally started working :)

I still had to wait a long time for them to bleach, about another 6 hours but it was worth the wait

As you can see, they are significantly lighter than what they were...

I wasn't sure whether to cut the shorts and leave the bottoms frayed or to roll them up, but decided to roll them up as i was scared i'd cut them too short and ruin them haha :D

Studding

All i needed to do then was to stud them! Luckily for me i already had some leftover studs from previous projects so didn't have to spend any money on them :D

I only had 88 studs, so they wern't going to look as studded as Rihanna's but i still think they look okay :)

The only problem was that i couldn't get the smell of bleach out of them. I left them over night to soak in water, washed them twice, hung them outside but they still smell :/ I guess it will just go with time ...

Something i also like at the minute are these studded shorts that don't actually have studs on!

Not sure how you would wash them and how the long the 'studs' would hold out for, but i think they're pretty cool! :)
